Truth

1. Definition
1. 1828: Conformity to fact or reality; exact accordance with that which is, or has been, or shall be. The truth of history constitutes its whole value. We rely on the truth of the scriptural prophecies.

Truth is something that is complete. As we strive to learn truth we become, by increments, more like God. God is truth. Truth is divine.

Trustworthy

1. Definition

1. Deserving; such as merits; having worth or excellence; equivalent; with of, before the thing deserved.

2. To be worthy of someone’s trust is one of the highest forms of friendship. To be trustworthy is also to be a friend.

1. You must trust in God, then trust yourself. Only then can you be trustworthy. Strive to surround yourself with others whom you can trust.

4. Personal Definition

Trustworthy, to be worthy of someone’s trust. This “someone” could be anyone, and we need to be ready for them. They might be friends, they might be family, or it might be God. But God does not need to trust us, though he would like to, we need to trust him. But first we must be worthy of our own trust, and we have to accept others trust. Remember Allowat’s words: “If these virtues [Trustworthy, Loyal, Obedient, Reverent] glow brightly in our hearts, the fire cannot fail to be kindled in theirs.” Let’s start kindling!

True

1. Definition
1. 1828: Faithful; steady in adhering to friends, to promises, to a prince or to the state; loyal; not false, fickle or perfidious; as a true friend; a true lover; a man true to his king, true to his country, true to his word; a husband true to his wife; a wife true to her husband; a servant true to his master; an officer true to his charge.

1. To be true to something is to know what is expected of you of that entity and follow through with that. No matter what.

1. We are taught here that to be true to yourself (which is the first step to being true to others) you must be honest, and have integrity.

1. Be true in everything you do! But as I pointed out before, that most important thing to be true to is you.

1. This points out lots of things that you should aspire towards. But the thing that is singled out as more important than all the rest is “they were men who were true at all times in whatsoever thing they were entrusted.”
4. Personal Definition

To be true, or not to be true, there is no question. Once you know what is expected of you from something, and if that something be good, than you are obligated to be true to them. Be true to everything, and never deny what you know to be true. But the most important thing that you can be true to is yourself and God.

Temporary

1. Definition:
1. 1828: adjective [Latin temporarius.] Lasting for a time only; existing or continuing for a limited time; as, the patient has obtained temporary relief. There is a temporary cessation of hostilities. There is a temporary supply of provisions. In times of great danger, Rome appointed a temporary dictator.

1. Temporary things are things that don’t last. The exist only for a short or limited time.
2. Quotes:
1. “They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.” (Ben Franklin)
1. Temporary things are dangerous to place value on. If you give up essential things for their temporary counterparts, you will end up with neither.
2. “Growth demands a temporary surrender of security. It may mean giving up familiar but limiting patterns, safe but unrewarding work, values no longer believed in, and relationships that have lost their meaning.” (John C. Maxwell)
1. In contrast, if you give up temporary things, or give up non-essential things temporarily, then you will end up in a better place than you were before.

1. “For a small moment have I forsaken thee, but with great mercies will I gather thee. In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment, but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the Lord thy Redeemer.” (3 Nephi 22 7-8)
1. Sometimes we will lose important things, essential things. But if we have faith, then we will only lose them temporarily.
4. Personal Definition:

Temporary things are not essential things. If we place too much trust in temporary or unfounded things, then we will lose more than we gained. But if we have faith, then we will keep the essential things, and we will lose the unnecessary things.
