Inveigle


  1. Definition
    1. 1828: To entice; to seduce; to wheedle; to persuade to something evil by deceptive arts or flattery.
      1. Entice (attract)
      2. Seduce (tempt)
      3. Persuade (convince)
        1. To inveigle is to attempt to convince someone to do something wrong by using wrong or deceptive methods
  2. Quotes from Prophets
    1. “Yet if we lie and cheat, defraud, or seduce others and lead them into sin, to that extent we do become His (Christ’s)  enemies.” (MARK E. PETERSON, General Conference, April 1982)
      1. When we seduce (inveigle) others, we become enemies of Christ.
  3. Scriptures
    1. “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;”(1 Timothy 4:1)
      1. Inveigling was prophesied to occur in the last days. It is classed among the doctrine of the devil.
  4. Personal Definition
    1. Inveigling is not a good thing. It is when someone uses a roundabout way of getting you to something bad. It was also prophesied by prophets to occur in the latter days. It’s horrible and is one of Satan’s many tactics.

  1. Wow, that was deep. I have never heard that word before but it is probably a good one to know. It reminds me of my scripture reading this morning in D&C I was reading about how if we do not repent Christ will be ashamed of us, but this says If we are doing evil things to lead others into doing evil things than we will be Christ enemy! Scary thought! I'm afraid I might do this... Its a good reason to watch your words and actions.
