Truth

  1. Definition
    1. 1828: Conformity to fact or reality; exact accordance with that which is, or has been, or shall be. The truth of history constitutes its whole value. We rely on the truth of the scriptural prophecies.
      1. Fact (Gospel)
      2. Reality (Actuality)
    2. Truth is.
  2. Quotes from Prophets
    1. “We human beings are spiritual children of a Father in Heaven, who is the author and finisher of all truth, and that we are lost in this earthly, fallen state unless we allow the Light of Christ, or the Spirit of truth, to become our constant and infinite guide.” (F. ENZIO BUSCHE, General Conference, October 1993)
      1. We learn here that God is the creator of ALL truth. God is Truth.
    2. “Children need to be able to discern truth from error for themselves and have the courage to act on what they know” (MICHAELENE P. GRASSLI, General Conference, October 1994)
      1. Truth and Error and very different things. While God is Truth, Error is of the Devil. God cannot err.
    3. The word of God is the doctrine taught by Jesus Christ and by His prophets. Alma knew that words of doctrine had great power. They can open the minds of people to see spiritual things not visible to the natural eye. And they can open the heart to feelings of the love of God and a love for truth.” (HENRY B. EYRING, Liahona, July 1999)
      1. God can speak no wrong. The word of God is Truth. His word can bring us to our heavenly father better than anything else.
  3. Scriptures
    1. And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. (John 8: 32)
      1. If you learn truth you become more independent of others. When you know truth, you become more free.
    2. For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth. (2 Corinthians 13: 8)
      1. Truth is absolute. Truth cannot be removed, that which is truth is eternal.
  4. Personal Definition
Truth is something that is complete. As we strive to learn truth we become, by increments, more like God. God is truth. Truth is divine.
