Compromise

  1. Definition:
    1. 1828: A mutual promise or contract of two parties in controversy, to refer their differences to the decision of arbitrators.
      1. Promise (assurance)
      2. Contract (agreement)
        1. A compromise is an agreement between two or more parties in which both give up a portion of their argument so that both can come to a consensus.
  2. Quotes:
    1. “All compromise is based on give and take, but there can be no give and take on fundamentals. Any compromise on mere fundamentals is a surrender. For it is all give and no take.” (Mahatma Gandhi)
      1. Compromise is only to me done with integrity. If you are willing to compromise your integrity, you have none.
  3. Personal Definition:

Compromise is the act of giving so that you can get something. If compromise is done without integrity, you are not centered in the right place.
